Summary/Objective:
As a valued member of our team, the Diesel Technician I is required to perform routine and BIT safety inspections, oil changes, preventive maintenance services, possess minimum number of tools and capable of low skill level repairs.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Essential Functions:
• Basis tools needed to effectively do inspections and mechanical repairs to equipment and routine preventive services.
• Complete all maintenance duties as assigned, and repair all equipment on property including, but not limited to, diesel, plant, or yard equipment.
• Efficient communication and computer skills for proper file documentation on each job performed.
• Ensures vehicles meet CHP/BIT/PM inspection requirements.
• Knowledge and ability to identify the proper name of all visible parts in a vehicle.
• Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance.
• Maintain appropriate record keeping, Bit inspections, DVIRs, work done description and work orders.
• Track and schedules with operations or manager on vehicles status and updates.
• Will install, select, or identify proper tire replacements & legal limit knowledge.
• Will inspect and identify vehicle conditions on different types of equipment such as tractors, trailers, or mixers.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance to keep vehicles and equipment in compliance with DOT and company standards.
Non-Essential Duties:
• Efficient skills for scheduling and periodizations of jobs.
• Ability to perform required preventive maintenance services.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Core Competencies:
• Ability to read and interpret documents.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment utilized in maintenance repair.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. General days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, hours to be determined. Not eligible for remote work. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel Required: Estimated less than 25%
Minimum Education and Experience
• High school diploma.
• 2+ years of heavy-duty tractor maintenance experience.
• 2+ years experience of work on electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
• Must have own tools.
Preferred Education and Experience
• Associates degree, technical school certificate or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of heavy-duty tractor maintenance experience.
• 3+ years experience of work on electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
• 1+ years experience welding.
