We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Accounting Operations team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of financial data related to lease and asset-backed securities portfolios. What You'll Do
As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for performing detailed reconciliations, supporting financial close activities, and partnering with multiple departments to resolve accounting issues and improve processes.
- Perform accurate and timely monthly reconciliations of lease portfolios and Asset Backed Securities (ABS) bank accounts.
- Complete complex account reconciliations and analyses to identify, investigate, and resolve out-of-balance conditions.
- Ensure securitization General Ledger accounts across multiple business units are accurately reconciled and supported.
- Conduct daily GL-to-system reconciliations and proactively research discrepancies.
- Analyze account activity, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Prepare journal entries and account adjustments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts and explain significant variances.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly accounting schedules and supporting documentation.
- Process intercompany billings and chargeback transactions.
- Assist with tax reporting schedules and related documentation.
- Serve as a key accounting resource for operational and regional teams.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Support internal and external audit requests by providing schedules and documentation.
- Partner with Financial Reporting teams to ensure compliance with accounting standards and policies.
- Participate in business initiatives, process improvement efforts, and system enhancement projects.
- Define accounting requirements, support system testing, and participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Document testing results and maintain comprehensive project records.
- Recommend improvements to accounting processes, controls, and system functionality.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of General Ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Experience performing complex account analysis and researching discrepancies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with dealer finance, lease accounting, loan accounting, or asset-backed securities
- Experience using Oracle, PeopleSoft, and/or Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)
- Experience supporting month-end close and audit activities in a large corporate environment
- Exposure to process improvement initiatives and accounting systems implementations
