Position Summary

This position is responsible for developing accurate and timely proposals and estimates for both private and public projects.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications and proposed project site conditions
• Perform detailed project plan take-offs utilizing AGTEK & Bluebeam software in creating estimates
• Develop detailed estimates by analyzing construction methods and solicit input from field operations to be included in final project estimate.
• Utilize existing cost history as a check to complete estimate.
• Present completed estimates/bids and participate in reviews with Management to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Develop knowledge of and communicate with owners, subcontractors, public and private entities to ensure competitiveness.
• Assist in job start up activities by communicating estimate bid information to field operations at pre-construction meetings to ensure understanding of scope of job.
• Maintain & develop historical cost data
• Assist in development and monitoring of project and master schedule
• Proactive user of HCSS Heavy Bid software

Summary of Experience and Education

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management preferred or related field experience.
• Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in Earthwork, Structural & Site Concrete, Asphalt Paving and Underground Wet Utilities

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction including technology, equipment methods, craft agreements, jurisdictions and negotiations.
• HCSS Heavy Bid, AGTEK & Bluebeam software

Physical Demands

• Must have the ability to stand, sit, squat, bend, kneel, twist, crawl, reach, lift, balance, push and pull as required for office and field positions.
• Must be able to lift 25 lbs/ frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 15 lbs.
• Occasional overnight travel is required
• Able to work in construction jobsite environment.
