Job Description
A confidential California-based transactional law firm is seeking a mid-to-senior Commercial Real Estate Associate to support a busy, sophisticated real estate practice. This role is built for an attorney who enjoys complex deal work, takes pride in clean drafting, and wants meaningful responsibility with a collaborative, high-touch team while maintaining a remote-first work style in Southern California.

THE ROLE
• Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial leasing documents (landlord and tenant side)
• Lead and support acquisitions and dispositions, including purchase and sale agreements, ancillary agreements, due diligence, and closings
• Work on real estate finance transactions, including loan documentation, closing mechanics, and coordination with lenders and title/escrow
• Support joint venture structures and related documentation, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders
• Manage transaction workflows, issue-spotting, and risk allocation across multiple deal timelines
• Communicate directly with clients and counterparties, with appropriate partner collaboration and oversight
LOCATION, SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION
Location:
Southern California (Los Angeles or San Diego)
Schedule:
Remote-first with hybrid, in-office collaboration about 1 day per week
REQUIREMENTS
• 4 or more years of transactional commercial real estate experience (more senior candidates are welcome)
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills across core commercial real estate agreements
• Experience trained at a Big Law firm or a highly regarded commercial real estate boutique
• Active California bar admission in good standing
• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
• Based in, or willing to relocate to, Southern California
• Comfortable working in a small, collaborative team environment with a high level of client service
PREFERRED BACKGROUND
• Significant experience with real estate finance transactions
• Experience spanning leasing, purchase and sale agreements, and joint ventures (in addition to finance)
• A portable book of business (any size)
• Strong academic credentials
