Quality Inspector
Schedule: Monday-Friday: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm + OT
Location: Fullerton, CA
Pay: $27-$29/hr.
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to perform diversified FAI (First Article Inspection) activities in a manufacturing and aerospace environment. If you have experience with First Article Inspection for aerospace component production, please apply!
This role is responsible for verifying purchased components, in-process assemblies, and final products using engineering drawings, process specifications, material certifications, test reports, and customer documentation. The ideal candidate will have experience performing First Article Inspections (FAI) utilizing AS9102 standards, conducting complex dimensional inspections using CMM equipment and precision measuring instruments, and documenting quality findings through Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs). Strong blueprint reading skills and familiarity with aerospace quality standards are essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform receiving, in-process, final, and shipping inspections on components, assemblies, and finished products.
- Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) using AS9102 forms and requirements.
- Inspect detailed machined parts, assemblies, and subassemblies using CMM equipment and other precision measuring devices.
- Verify product conformity using engineering drawings, process specifications, customer requirements, and test procedures.
- Utilize inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, height gauges, hardness testers, Romer Arms, CMMs, levels, and radius gauges.
- Generate and document Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for nonconforming materials and products.
- Clearly identify, document, and communicate quality issues while assisting with root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Stamp, approve, and release conforming products while maintaining accurate inspection documentation.
- Scan and upload quality records, certifications, and related documentation into the EPICOR system.
- Maintain inspection records and documentation in accordance with company procedures and quality standards.
- Assist with equipment and tooling management to ensure calibration requirements are maintained.
- Follow established inspection procedures and work instructions, while recommending process improvements when appropriate.
- Work closely with the Inspection Lead and manufacturing teams to support production and quality objectives.
- Participate in training and development opportunities, including qualification as an FAA ODA Unit Member.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Working knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical inspection techniques.
- Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing, machining, aerospace, or technical environment.
- Experience performing dimensional inspections using precision measuring tools.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) required.
- Experience with CMM inspection equipment preferred.
- Aerospace industry experience and AS9102 First Article Inspection experience strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, and use hands for inspection activities.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to work on the manufacturing floor and in an office environment.
Work Environment
- Combination of manufacturing floor and office settings.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels and typical production facility conditions.
- Facility includes climate-controlled office areas and active production operations.
