Power Plant Mechanic
Location: Bakersfield, CA
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour DOE
Schedule: Full-Time | Overtime Available

Position Overview
Key Staffing is currently recruiting for experienced Power Plant Mechanics to support maintenance and outage (shutdown/turnaround) projects at power generation and cogeneration facilities. We are seeking mechanics with hands-on experience performing maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on critical power plant equipment in an industrial environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for dependable professionals who are safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and experienced working in power plants during scheduled outages and maintenance projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on power generation equipment.
- Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble industrial rotating equipment.
- Maintain and repair pumps, valves, gearboxes, turbines, compressors, heat exchangers, and related mechanical systems.
- Align equipment and perform precision measurements using mechanical tools.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Assist with shutdown (turnaround) activities, equipment inspections, and troubleshooting.
- Follow all plant safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
- Work effectively with supervisors and maintenance crews to complete projects safely and efficiently.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Power Plant Mechanic, Industrial Mechanic, or Millwright in a power generation or cogeneration facility.
- Hands-on experience working with equipment such as:

- Steam and gas turbines
- Pumps
- Valves
- Gearboxes
- Compressors
- Heat exchangers
- Bearings and rotating equipment
- Experience supporting plant outages, shutdowns, or turnarounds is highly preferred.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments and mechanical hand and power tools.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and equipment manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting and mechanical repair skills.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in physically demanding industrial environments.
- Ability to work overtime and varying schedules during outage projects.
Required Certifications
- Valid Confined Space Certification
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 is preferred
- TWIC Card is a plus
- Valid Drivers License
