Position Title: Activities Coordinator

Department: Residential Programs

Reports To: Program Operations Supervisor and Clinical Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY

The Activities Coordinator will provide a diversified program of recreational activities to meet the needs of patients. The Activities Coordinator is responsible for the supervision of patients during activity and non-activity times.

CATEGORIES OF DUTIES

  1. Develops and implements appropriate recreational activities for participating programs.
  2. Organizes and oversees all special events on the inpatient and outpatient unit including holiday activities and barbeques.
  3. Creates a monthly calendar of events and distributes calendars to designated supervisors of participating programs.
  4. Involves participants in creating and updating the recreational board on each unit. Monthly themes should be coordinated with upcoming holidays and seasons.
  5. Plans weekly outings for programs who offer field trip activities. The Activity Coordinator is responsible for obtaining funds, from the Program Operations Supervisor, for these scheduled events prior to the end of the week.
  6. Completes group progress notes for each patient for all scheduled recreational activities.
  7. Oversees the supervision of patients in other unit activities. This may include the unit classroom and groups.
  8. All other duties as assigned by Director, Clinical Supervisor, Program Operations Supervisor, and Administration.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  1. BA/BS degree and 1-3 years of experience in recreational and leisure activities.
  2. Must have at least one (1) year experience in a behavioral healthcare setting.
  3. One year of continuous sobriety if in recovery.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR YOUTH RESIDENTIAL

  1. Must have a minimum of at least two (2) years experience working with adolescents in a group home setting or prior experience performing AOD – related job duties.
  2. Must have a minimum of at least two (2) years experience working with court ordered placements from probation and/or Department of Children and Family Services.
  3. Must be able to successfully pass live scan clearance prior to starting work in youth residential.
