Job Summary:
Power Trip Rentals is seeking a detail-oriented, dependable Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Shop & Field Technician to join our growing team! This role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy construction equipment both in the shop and at job sites. Equipment includes diesel engines, hydraulic systems, aerial work platforms, skid steers, and other specialized rental machinery.

This position requires strong mechanical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in the field. If you are passionate about equipment maintenance and enjoy hands-on, on-site repair work, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting, analyzing, and troubleshooting heavy construction equipment and systems.
  • Performing diagnostics and complex repairs on diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Reading and interpreting equipment schematics, repair manuals, and diagnostic codes.
  • Performing preventative maintenance to ensure reliability and safety of rental equipment.
  • Sourcing and replacing faulty components, parts, and systems.
  • Fabricating or modifying equipment components when necessary.
  • Documenting repairs, maintenance records, and safety compliance reports.
  • Providing accurate time and material cost estimates before performing work.
  • Liaising with suppliers and clients to ensure timely service and repairs.
  • Traveling to job sites to repair/service equipment in the field.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • High school diploma or GED required; trade school or equivalent training preferred.
  • 3-5 years Experience working with diesel engines, heavy machinery, and hydraulic/electrical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment independently in the field.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes.
  • Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (for logging service reports and estimates).
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more and work in various outdoor conditions.
