Job Description

Step into a meaningful role as an Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher serving schools in the vibrant San Francisco region for the 2026-2027 academic year. This full-time, contract position supports student development through customized physical education programs across multiple school sites, offering the chance to make a lasting impact in an inclusive educational environment.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid California teaching credential required
  • Prior experience as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to support and motivate students with diverse needs
  • Strong knowledge of adaptive PE strategies and legal requirements
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Ability to travel to multiple school locations within the district (itinerant role)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized adaptive physical education plans aligned with student needs and IEP goals
  • Work closely with classroom teachers and special education staff to promote inclusive participation
  • Monitor student progress and adjust programming as required
  • Maintain detailed records and provide regular updates for IEP meetings and parent communications
  • Engage students in energetic, creative, and supportive physical education activities
  • Maintain compliance with district policies and state regulations

This position spans the academic year from August 11, 2026 through June 4, 2027, with a total of 184 days and a 35-hour workweek. Candidates will provide services exclusively in person at assigned school sites within the San Francisco district.

Compensation for this role is based on a competitive pay structure of $63 to $67 per hour.
