Job Title: Event Manager

Reports to: Direct to Consumer Manager


Summary: The Event Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, coordination, execution, and continuous improvement of all events hosted by Michael David Winery. This position oversees both public winery events and privately hosted events across multiple winery properties, ensuring every event reflects the Michael David Winery brand and delivers an exceptional guest experience.

The Event Manager provides leadership to the Event Supervisor and Event Attendants while working collaboratively with internal departments, vendors, clients, and community partners. This role is responsible for maintaining operational excellence, driving event revenue, developing efficient processes, and ensuring consistent hospitality standards across all event operations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning and execution of all winery events, including public events, wine club events, festivals, dinners, concerts, and private events.
  • Ensure consistent execution and guest experience across multiple winery locations.
  • Develop event timelines, staffing plans, floor plans, and operational procedures.
  • Monitor event setup, execution, and breakdown to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Evaluate events and implement improvements to enhance guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.
  • Directly supervise the Event Supervisor and Event Attendants.
  • Recruit, train, coach, schedule, and evaluate event staff.
  • Foster a positive, professional, and guest-focused team culture.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and ongoing performance coaching.
  • Ensure staff maintain exceptional service standards and represent the Michael David Winery brand professionally.
  • Partner with Hospitality, Culinary, Marketing, Winemaking, Facilities, and Sales teams to execute successful events.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors including caterers, florists, entertainment providers, rental companies, and transportation services.
  • Ensure clear communication across departments regarding event schedules and operational needs.
  • Assist with event budgeting and financial performance.
  • Monitor labor costs and staffing efficiency.
  • Review invoices and vendor expenses for accuracy.
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability while maintaining exceptional guest experiences.
  • Maintain organized event documentation, calendars, contracts, and operational records.
  • Ensure all events comply with winery policies, health regulations, ABC requirements, and safety procedures.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for staff and guests.
  • Ensure proper event staffing, emergency preparedness, and incident reporting.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the event schedule.
