Transplant Financial Coordinator

Location: Los Angeles, CA (100% Onsite)
Duration: Contract Assignment
Schedule: Monday – Friday (Standard Business Hours)
Pay: $28.00 – $33.00 per hour

As a Transplant Financial Coordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring patients receive timely financial clearance by verifying insurance benefits, securing authorizations, and educating patients on their financial responsibilities. This position works closely with physicians, transplant coordinators, financial counselors, insurance providers, and multidisciplinary clinical teams to help patients navigate complex insurance requirements while supporting exceptional patient care.


Responsibilities

  • Verify medical insurance eligibility, benefits, and transplant coverage.
  • Obtain prior authorizations and financial clearances for transplant-related services.
  • Review and interpret complex insurance plans, policies, and authorization requirements.
  • Counsel patients regarding insurance benefits, financial responsibilities, and available coverage options.
  • Assist patients in resolving insurance issues, including coverage lapses and authorization delays.
  • Collaborate with transplant coordinators, physicians, case managers, financial counselors, and insurance carriers to ensure timely patient clearance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation within hospital systems while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and payer requirements.
  • Monitor authorization status and proactively resolve issues that could delay patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and insurance representatives regarding financial and insurance matters.
  • Support process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and the patient financial experience.
  • Perform additional administrative and financial coordination duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's Degree in a related field preferred.
  • Associate's Degree may be substituted with two (2) years of financial experience, including at least one (1) year of transplant financial experience.
  • Experience working in a hospital, healthcare, or clinical environment.
  • Working knowledge of medical insurance verification, benefits, and authorization processes.
  • Strong computer, data entry, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor with strong customer service abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous transplant financial coordination experience strongly preferred.
  • Heart, Liver, and/or Kidney transplant financial experience highly preferred.
  • Experience working with transplant patients or transplant programs.
  • Bilingual language skills strongly preferred.
