JOB SCOPE:

• Responsible for repairing and maintaining all HVAC equipment (e.g. heating, air conditioning and refrigeration) in a safe and efficient manner to ensure a comfortable and seamless guest experience. Also participate in non-HVAC repairs and maintenance as needed.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Tear down, remove, repair and/or replace AC units.

• Clean fan coils and replace filters.

• Be familiar with BCU computer unit and adjust computer settings as needed.

• Repair and/or defrost and maintain room refrigerators.

• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain kitchen refrigerator/freezer units including walk-ins, reach-ins and in-line equipment.

• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain ice makers in good working condition.

• Maintain required records on HVAC equipment.

• Interact with HVAC vendors to ensure required parts and/or materials are available.

• Plumbing Duties As Required:

1. Adjust and repair toilets, sinks, tubs, leaks, etc.

1. Open clogged drains.

1. Install piping hookup to various plumbing fixtures.

1. Maintain (assemble, disassemble and clean) fire protection piping system, sprinkler heads, pumps, valves, steam traps, bolt flanges, gaskets, pump-packing, etc.

1. Remove and/or install plumbing fixtures.

• Electrical Duties As Required:

1. Repair and/or replace electrical household appliances (lamps, TV’s, hairdryers, etc.)

1. Replace light bulbs (high reach).

1. Replace and/or repair lights, receptacles, switches, and wiring of such devices.

1. Troubleshoot, correct, and repair interruptions in electrical service.

1. Provide special electrical service for special functions (displays, shows, etc.)

1. Repair and/or replace electrical controls to all electromechanical devices.

1. Identify and label all power distribution points when necessary.

1. Troubleshoot and repair commercial kitchen equipment.

1. Troubleshoot and trace problems in audio and electronic equipment.

1. Troubleshoot and maintain smoke detectors in safe working condition.

• Painting/Plastering/Wallpapering/Tiling Duties As Required:

1. Remove, prep, prime, wallpaper surfaces and install wall coverings.

1. Plaster, spackle and tape walls and ceilings, etc.

1. Paint rooms, hallway, floors/ceiling, doors, pipes and equipment, etc.

1. Remove and/or install tiles, caulking, wallboards, baseboards, marble, etc.

1. Refinish furniture.

1. Mix colors for painting.

1. Ensure the safe storage of all paint and paint related chemicals.

• Carpentry Duties As Required:

1. Install hinges, hooks, pictures, doors, and other general accessories.

1. Install carpeting.

1. Build and/or install shelving, wall guards, etc.

1. Refinish and/or repair furniture.

1. Build benches, platforms, cabinets, frames, tables, etc.

• Locksmithing Duties As Required:

1. Install, repair, adjust locks, strikes, door checks, etc.

1. Open jammed locks, deposit boxes, room safes, doors, luggage, etc.

1. Make keys.

• Pool/Spa Related Duties As Required:

1. Perform daily water quality check.

1. Maintain accurate daily records of water quality, temperature, filter readings, etc.

1. Clean debris from pool and vacuum pool as required.

1. Ensure the safe storage of all pool chemicals and maintain inventory.

• General Duties As Needed:

1. Log in daily to Hotel Expert system to activate pager and deactivate pager at end of shift.

1. Respond to pager calls, complete calls, close calls and delete calls from pager.

1. Pick up non-pager work orders, complete assignment and record actions taken.

1. Respond to phone, pager and radio messages in a timely manner.

1. Complete standard daily, weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly log sheets.

1. Perform daily meter readings.

1. Record daily activities completed in daily shift log.

1. Maintain shop and storage areas in a clean, safe manner.

1. Maintain equipment in good working condition.

1. Safely operate all equipment.

1. Coordinate with Supervisor or office with respect to needed inventory.

1. Maintain roof drainage and roofing materials for all buildings.

1. Assist other departments with moving or lifting projects as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential:

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Ability to work independently and with a team.

• At least two years experience in all areas of building trades.

• Excellent mechanical and operational troubleshooting skills.

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize.

• High School diploma or equivalent.

• HVAC certification.

• Experience with using and maintaining variety of tools.

• Understanding of the safe use and storage of chemicals, e.g. paint, pool, etc.

• Experience in problem solving and critical thinking.

Desirable:

• Previous experience in a hotel engineering environment
