Job Description

Job DescriptionDescription:

Help Lead the Fun. Inspire the Future.

Do you love working with kids, building relationships, and leading a team that makes a real difference? As an Assistant Club Director, you'll help create a safe, engaging, and positive after-school environment where young people can learn, grow, and thrive every day.

Working alongside the Club Director, you'll help oversee daily operations, coach and support staff, guide positive youth behavior, and ensure every Club experience is filled with fun, learning, and opportunity. No two days are the same—you might be leading an exciting STEM activity, helping staff create unforgettable experiences, celebrating a member's success, or jumping into a game on the playground.

If you're energetic, organized, and passionate about helping youth reach their full potential, we'd love to have you on our team.

What You'll Do

  • Help lead the daily operations of an assigned Club site.
  • Support, coach, and mentor Youth Development Professionals.
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging environment where every member feels safe and valued.
  • Help plan and deliver fun, educational, recreational, and enrichment activities.
  • Promote positive behavior through encouragement, relationship-building, and restorative practices.
  • Supervise members during programs, transitions, and activities to ensure safety at all times.
  • Assist with staff scheduling, communication, and day-to-day leadership responsibilities.
  • Build positive relationships with youth, families, school staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Maintain attendance records, incident documentation, and program reporting.
  • Help keep Club spaces organized, clean, safe, and ready for daily programming.
  • Assist with facility upkeep and light maintenance as needed.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and required trainings.
  • Step in wherever needed to help create an exceptional Club experience for every child.

Requirements:

We're Looking For Someone Who:

  • Is 18 years of age or older.
  • Has a High School Diploma or GED (college coursework in education, recreation, child development, or a related field is a plus).
  • 48 College Credits or Paraeducator Certificate (or ability to obtain Para-educator certificate)
  • Has at least two years of experience working with school-age youth.
  • Enjoys leading others and helping teammates succeed.
  • Brings positive energy, patience, creativity, and flexibility to every day.
  • Can confidently supervise groups of children while creating a fun and structured environment.
  • Communicates professionally with youth, families, coworkers, school partners, and volunteers.
  • Is organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Is comfortable using computers, email, Microsoft Office, and web-based systems.
  • Can adapt to a fast-paced, active work environment where every day is different.
  • Is able to remain active, standing and moving throughout the majority of the shift.
  • Is willing to complete all required Boys & Girls Club and Guadalupe Union School District trainings, screenings, and clearances.

You'll Thrive in This Role If You...

  • Love working with children and believe every young person deserves a caring adult in their life.
  • Enjoy mentoring, coaching, and motivating others.
  • Stay calm under pressure and solve problems with confidence and compassion.
  • Take initiative and aren't afraid to jump in wherever you're needed.
  • Believe that teamwork, positivity, and a little creativity can change lives.
