Contract position: 720 hours/4-4 1/2 months(can get extended)
$25.50-$28.00/hourly
Media Production Specialists I/Graphic Designer
The Media Specialist plays a key role in supporting the Department by producing high‐quality visual materials for print, digital, and social platforms. This position requires exceptional graphic design proficiency, creativity, and the ability to execute projects in a fast‐paced environment while upholding strict brand and accessibility standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and produce a wide range of collateral, including flyers, brochures, posters, one‐pagers, annual reports, social media graphics, event materials, and other outreach assets.
- Develop clean, well‐structured layouts that leverage strong typography, visual hierarchy, and consistent formatting.
- Apply expert‐level skills in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Adobe Express to create both original designs and adapt existing templates.
- Ensure all design outputs strictly follow departmental branding guidelines, including color usage, logo placement, typography, and tone.
- Create ADA‐compliant materials, including accessible PDFs, proper color contrast, alternative text guidance, readable font choices, and structured layouts.
- Prepare production‐ready files for print and digital distribution, following industry standards for resolution, bleed, and file packaging.
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand project goals, translate concepts into compelling visuals, and revise designs based on feedback.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing deadlines and adjusting quickly to shifting needs.
- Maintain organized project files and adhere to internal naming conventions, archiving processes, and record‐keeping standards.
Required Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated experience designing for print and digital platforms.
- Strong mastery of layout design, typography, composition, and brand‐aligned aesthetics.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Adobe Express.
- Ability to produce clean, modern, on‐brand graphics quickly and accurately.
- Understanding of ADA accessibility requirements for visual communications.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present design concepts clearly.
Education: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited institution in television or film production, multimedia or educational media, graphic design, communication/liberal arts, photography, business administration or other closely related field.
Experience: Two (2) years of professional, hands-on work experience in a variety of media and video production areas or television production.
