Wilcox Machine Company, a Los Angeles based, large job shop machine shop, is searching for a foreman to supervise our welding operations. We specialize in welding/fabrication and machining of large scale (up to 120,000 pounds), prototype and short run production parts and assemblies. Our diverse customer base spans commercial, government, and aerospace industries. We operate two shifts per day in an 80,000 square foot facility. Founded in the 1950s, Wilcox Machine continues to offer high quality, cost effective manufacturing services to all of our valued customers.
Responsibilities primarily consist of directing the efforts of 7 to 10 welders, and interfacing with other foremen, planners, and occasionally, customers. Candidates should have experience with the following:
- Must be familiar with ASME Sect. IX, AWS D1.1, and AWS D17.1 codes.
- Proper selection of specific weld procedures for specific applications.
- Able to develop and qualify new weld procedures and certify welders.
- Familiar with TIG, MIG, and Submerged Arc processes.
- Strong blueprint reading and shop math skills.
- Experience with layouts of large fabrications.
- Prior hands-on welding experience.
- Strong communication/people management skills.
This is a very hands-on job. Candidates should be energetic, highly motivated, and have strong people skills.
Compensation consists of a base salary, plus an incentive base bonus dependent upon company performance and personal effort. We also offer medical, dental, and 401K benefits.
