Manufacturing CAD Engineer
Location: California (Remote/Hybrid)
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing CAD Engineer to join an innovative team focused on advanced off-site construction and manufacturing. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in CAD modeling, virtual fabrication, and design-for-manufacturing who enjoys improving processes and collaborating across engineering and production teams.
This is a hybrid opportunity for candidates based in California. The role is primarily remote, with occasional travel to a manufacturing facility in Tejon Ranch, CA for team collaboration and project support.
Key Responsibilities
- Convert Revit models and construction drawings into manufacturing-ready CAD and CAM files.
- Produce detailed shop drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), cut lists, and fabrication documentation.
- Support material planning, production workflows, and project costing through accurate modeling and documentation.
- Develop and improve virtual build processes from design through manufacturing.
- Create and maintain CAD standards, procedures, and quality control processes.
- Perform quality assurance reviews to ensure design accuracy before production.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and project teams to resolve design challenges.
- Participate in research and development initiatives focused on improving manufacturing efficiency.
- Prepare technical presentations and documentation as needed.
- Ensure compliance with company safety, quality, and operational standards.
- Assist with additional engineering projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in building design or structural modeling.
- At least 3 years of experience using 3D CAD software, preferably Cadwork.
- Experience creating shop drawings, coordination drawings, installation documents, and fabrication packages.
- Understanding of manufacturing environments and production workflows.
- Experience with modular, prefabricated, or panelized construction is highly preferred.
- Ability to interpret structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (SMEPF) construction documents.
- Knowledge of light-frame construction methods; experience with heavy timber or mass timber is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
