Local Driver (Class C)
Location: Pico Rivera, CA
Job Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Compensation: $25.00–$28.00 per hour (based on experience)
Position Summary
PGS360 is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Local Driver to support daily transportation operations throughout Southern California. This position is responsible for the timely and accurate pickup and delivery of customer freight between warehouses, vendors, carriers, and customer locations while ensuring compliance with all DOT regulations and company safety standards.
The ideal candidate is organized, customer-focused, and takes pride in maintaining a safe driving record while providing exceptional service. This is a local position with daily home time and no overnight travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles to transport freight between warehouses, customers, carriers, and vendor locations throughout Southern California.
- Perform scheduled pickups and deliveries while meeting customer service expectations and delivery timelines.
- Load, unload, inspect, and secure freight to prevent damage during transit.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
- Verify shipment documentation, Bills of Lading (BOLs), packing slips, and delivery paperwork for accuracy.
- Obtain delivery confirmations, signatures, and maintain accurate transportation records.
- Coordinate with warehouse and transportation teams regarding delivery schedules, route changes, and shipment status.
- Maintain compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and all applicable safety requirements.
- Operate material handling equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts (if certified), to assist with loading and unloading.
- Maintain cleanliness and basic care of assigned company vehicle.
- Provide professional customer service during all pickups and deliveries.
- Assist with warehouse operations, shipping, receiving, inventory, or fulfillment activities when transportation workload allows.
- Immediately report accidents, delays, vehicle issues, or delivery exceptions to management.
- Support special transportation projects and other operational duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Valid California Driver's License (Class A) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a local delivery driver, warehouse driver, or courier.
- Experience driving box trucks or commercial delivery vehicles.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the day.
- Strong understanding of safe loading, cargo securement, and defensive driving practices.
- Excellent attendance, reliability, and time management skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse and logistics environment.
Preferred
- Forklift Certification.
- Experience in warehouse, fulfillment, or 3PL operations.
- Familiarity with electronic logs, GPS routing systems, or transportation software.
- Basic knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift, push, pull, and move products weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Sit, stand, bend, climb, and walk throughout the workday.
- Ability to work in warehouse and outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.
