Job DescriptionAbout the role
Join a growing manufacturing team in Newark, CA as a hands-on wood fabrication professional who can turn drawings into high-quality custom cases and crates.
Responsibilities
- Build custom cases and crates to specification using shop drawings
- Assemble foam inserts and support material handling needs
- Perform in-process quality checks to confirm accuracy and fit
- Maintain a safe, orderly woodshop and follow housekeeping standards
- Care for tools and equipment; promptly report issues to the supervisor
- Work collaboratively as part of a production team in a fast-moving environment
- Complete additional duties assigned by management
Qualifications
- Experience in carpentry, cabinetry, framing, or woodworking
- Interest in long-term, stable employment; consistent attendance and strong work history
- Team-first attitude, positive outlook, and pride in workmanship
- Openness to learn new methods and grow with the company
- Minimum 2 years of wood crafting experience preferred
- Practical assembly experience with wood-based products in manufacturing or construction
- Ability to interpret and build from blueprints or shop drawings
- Comfort using saws, drills, and other power tools
- Proficient basic math and troubleshooting skills
- Self-directed, productive with minimal supervision, calm under pressure, and able to manage multiple projects
Schedule and training
- 2nd shift: 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm
- Training: morning shift, Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
Compensation
20 to 25 dollars per hour, DOE.
Work environment and physical requirements
- Frequent standing and sitting; constant fine motor use
- Occasional ladder work
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and crawling
- Continuous visual focus to read prints and operate equipment
- Frequently lift, push, or carry up to 75 pounds
- Frequent proximity to moving machinery and persistent loud noise
- Operation of specialized shop equipment and machines
