Veterinary Assistant (Experienced)

Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: Competitive, based on experience

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our growing veterinary team. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while providing exceptional patient care and client service.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient care and treatments
  • Safely restrain and handle dogs, cats, and other small animals
  • Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas
  • Collect patient histories and record medical information accurately
  • Assist with laboratory procedures, diagnostics, and sample collection
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and report changes in condition
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the hospital
  • Educate clients on basic pet care, medications, and discharge instructions

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of veterinary assistant experience preferred
  • Knowledge of animal handling and restraint techniques
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to lift and restrain animals safely
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Dependable, professional, and team-oriented

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with venipuncture, radiology, laboratory procedures, and anesthesia monitoring
  • Familiarity with veterinary practice management software
  • Veterinary Assistant certification is a plus but not required
