Huntington Learning Center – San Ramon Valley/Danville
Location: Danville, California

Pay: $21.00–$25.00 per hour

Job Type: Full-time or 30+ hours per week, based on availability

Schedule: Monday through Friday, including afternoon and evening hours; occasional Saturdays

Huntington Learning Center of San Ramon Valley is seeking a dependable, organized, and motivated Assistant Center Manager in Training to join our leadership team.

This is not simply a front-desk position. It is a career-development opportunity for someone who wants to learn all aspects of operating an educational center and gradually grow into a center management role.

The selected candidate will begin by mastering front-office operations, scheduling, parent communication, student support, and basic instructional procedures. As the candidate demonstrates reliability, leadership, and a strong understanding of the center, additional responsibilities will be added in enrollment, staff supervision, academic operations, and center management.

We are looking for someone who wants to build a long-term career with our center and become an important part of our students’ educational success.

Primary Responsibilities

Front Office and Center Operations

  • Welcome students, parents, teachers, and visitors in a warm and professional manner
  • Answer phone calls and respond to parent questions
  • Schedule student sessions, evaluations, conferences, and staff coverage
  • Monitor student attendance, absences, make-up sessions, and schedule changes
  • Maintain accurate student, teacher, and parent records
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures
  • Keep the front office and learning center organized and prepared
  • Support payment follow-up, student-hour monitoring, and administrative reporting
  • Assist with teacher call-outs and substitute coverage

Parent and Student Support

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with families
  • Follow up with parents regarding scheduling, attendance, homework, and center policies
  • Help resolve routine parent concerns and refer serious concerns to the Center Director
  • Monitor the student experience from arrival through dismissal
  • Build positive relationships with students and families
  • Help ensure that every family receives consistent, high-quality service

Enrollment and Leadership Development

  • Learn how to respond to new inquiries and explain Huntington’s services
  • Assist with scheduling academic evaluations and parent conferences
  • Follow up with prospective families
  • Observe enrollment conferences and gradually learn the enrollment process
  • Learn student programming and instructional procedures
  • Assist with teacher communication and daily staff coordination
  • Help monitor completion of student notes, assignments, and center procedures
  • Take increasing responsibility for center operations as training progresses
  • Eventually manage assigned shifts independently

Teaching and Program Training

The Assistant Center Director in Training may teach a limited number of students each week as part of the training process.

Teaching will help the candidate:

  • Understand Huntington’s curriculum and instructional methods
  • Become familiar with student programs and learning goals
  • Build stronger relationships with teachers and students
  • Develop the knowledge needed to support instructional quality
  • Better explain our programs to parents and prospective families

Training and teaching materials will be provided.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; candidates currently completing a degree may be considered
  • Experience in education, tutoring, administration, customer service, sales, childcare, or office management is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail
  • Professional, dependable, and punctual
  • Comfortable speaking with parents and discussing educational services
  • Able to manage several responsibilities in a busy environment
  • Comfortable learning new computer systems and administrative procedures
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment
  • Willing to teach students and learn academic programming
  • Interested in growing into a leadership or center management role
  • Available during afternoon and evening hours
  • Saturday availability is helpful

Compensation and Growth
