Job Summary:
This is a temporary, full-time position expected to last approximately four (4) months. The Plumbing Inventory Coordinator is responsible for organizing, controlling, and maintaining all plumbing-related inventory to support plant operations. This role will standardize inventory processes, improve stock accuracy, ensure critical parts availability, and lead the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the MerlinAI inventory management system. The position works closely with Maintenance, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Operations teams to improve inventory visibility, reduce downtime, and optimize inventory levels. The position will be based in our Tejon Ranch, CA facility and report to the Operations Manager.
Core Responsibilities:
Inventory Organization & Management
- Organize and maintain all plumbing inventory, tools, and spare parts in designated storage locations.
- Establish and maintain a standardized labeling and bin location system.
- Create and update inventory catalogs, item descriptions, and part numbers.
- Ensure inventory areas remain clean, organized, and easily accessible.
- Identify obsolete, excess, or duplicate inventory items and recommend corrective actions.
Inventory Control
- Maintain accurate inventory records and stock levels.
- Perform routine cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Monitor inventory usage trends and recommend reorder points and minimum stock levels.
- Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure timely replenishment of inventory.
- Track inventory costs and help reduce excess inventory while maintaining operational readiness.
MerlinAI Implementation & Administration
- Assist with the implementation and deployment of MerlinAI inventory management processes.
- Input, validate, and maintain inventory data within MerlinAI.
- Create and organize inventory hierarchies, categories, locations, and asset records.
- Support barcode labeling and inventory tracking initiatives.
- Train users on MerlinAI inventory procedures and best practices.
- Generate reports and dashboards to monitor inventory performance, stock levels, and transaction accuracy.
- Continuously improve system utilization and inventory management processes.
Process Improvement
- Develop and document inventory control procedures and work instructions.
- Recommend improvements to inventory accuracy, storage efficiency, and inventory availability.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to maintenance reliability and materials management.
- Work with maintenance personnel to identify critical spare parts and establish stocking strategies.

Requirements:
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
- Experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, maintenance storerooms, or materials management preferred.
- Strong organizational and data-entry skills.
- Experience with inventory management software, ERP systems, or CMMS platforms preferred.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Ability to work efficiently in a steady – fast paced environment and properly adjust between the two at a moment’s notice
- Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time
- Must be flexible enough to kneel, reach, grip, bend, twist, ext. as required
Success Metrics
- Inventory accuracy greater than 98%.
- Reduction in stockouts of critical plumbing parts.
- Successful implementation and maintenance of MerlinAI inventory records.
- Timely completion of cycle counts and inventory audits.
- Improved organization and accessibility of plumbing inventory.
