PrideStaff is currently seeking a PM Shift Extrusion Machine Operator /Forklift for a Plastic manufacturing company located in Ontario, CA. This is a full-time, temp-to-hire opportunity. - Pay rate: $21.00 to $22.00
- Shift: 2nd Shift, 5:00 pm to 5:00 am (B or D shift; will be working every other weekend)
SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Extrusion Manager and Team Leads, the Extrusion Operator is responsible for operating an Extrusion machine in a safe and controlled manner. In addition, the Extrusion Operator loads cores, removes finished rolls, performs quality checks, and properly labels, packages, and stages film products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Follows all safety and work procedures to ensure a safe, productive work environment; checks to ensure all safety guards are in place and working properly
- Performs setup and operates the extruder to produce the product according to quality and productivity requires
- Troubleshoots equipment, web handling, and other production issues
- Detects and solves problems related to product quality, aesthetics, and/or contamination
- Adjusts machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, temperatures, amounts, dimensions, and flow of materials or raw materials
- Records and maintains production data
- Assists with replacing preventive maintenance activities
- Assist in training other team members
- Inspects the quality of rolls before production begins and continuously checks the quality of the line as product is produced
- Ensures material meets customer requirements
- Completes all required paperwork and forms
- Update Daily Management System at the end of each shift; provide daily communication to coworkers, maintenance, and management team members
- Forklift experience
- Machine Operator skills
- Work with Heat and plastics
- Read work orders
- Load cores and 90 lbs. shafts onto the machine.
- Participants in continuous improvement activities
- Ability to see colors
- Lift up to 40 pounds
- Completes a minimum of one safety behavior observation/near miss report each month
- Position requires flexibility to include shift changes and overtime; must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime, as required
- Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High School diploma or GED required
Professional background
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an extrusion operator in the plastic industry
- 6 months of forklift experience
- packaging environment or equivalent machine operator experience
- Ability to read a tape measure
- Ability to perform basic mathematical problems
Soft skills
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus but not required
- Attention to Detail
- Organizational Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is consistently stand, walk, climb, stoop or kneel, reach with arms and hands, and talk or hear. A manufacturing work environment may be loud, with varying temperatures. The incumbent will work with inks and solvents with strong odors and other chemicals as part of the manufacturing process. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment when in manufacturing and warehouse areas.
