About the Role:
This is an on-site position based in San Diego, California for an experienced Mechanical Designer who wants to lead the technical execution of HVAC and mechanical system designs, mentor junior designers, coordinate multidisciplinary projects, and contribute to the continued growth of a rapidly expanding MEP engineering firm.
Compensation & Benefits:
Annual Salary Range: $90,000–$100,000, based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated technical expertise.

What You'll Do:
- Design HVAC, ventilation, exhaust, hydronic, refrigeration (as applicable), and other mechanical building systems for commercial projects
- Produce complete construction documents utilizing Revit and AutoCAD
- Coordinate mechanical system designs with electrical, plumbing, architectural, and structural disciplines
- Perform HVAC load calculations, equipment selections, duct sizing, piping layouts, and energy compliance coordination
- Review project drawings for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with company QA/QC standards
- Mentor junior designers and assist with technical development across the mechanical team
- Participate in client meetings, project coordination meetings, and internal design reviews
- Support Project Managers and Engineers with project execution while maintaining schedule and quality expectations

- Fully integrated into project teams and company workflows
- Producing high-quality construction documents with minimal supervision
- Successfully coordinating mechanical designs across multiple disciplines
- Building strong working relationships with team members while consistently delivering projects on schedule
Non-Negotiable Requirements:
- 7+ years of U.S.-based commercial mechanical HVAC design experience
- Strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Carrier HAP, TRACE 3D Plus, or other industry-standard mechanical design software
- Experience preparing construction documents for commercial MEP projects
- Thorough understanding of the California Mechanical Code (CMC), California Building Code (CBC), California Energy Code (Title 24), ASHRAE standards, and applicable industry codes
- Experience performing HVAC load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork and piping layouts, and multidisciplinary coordination
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines
