Financial Administrative Representative
Position Overview
We are seeking a Financial Administrative Representative to join our patient access team. The Financial Administrative Representative is responsible for completing patient registration and pre-registration, verifying insurance coverage, calculating patient financial responsibility, and ensuring accurate account setup for outpatient and inpatient services. The ideal Financial Administrative Representative is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and professionalism.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts with rotating weekends
Key Responsibilities
- Complete patient registration and pre-registration for outpatient and inpatient accounts
- Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, authorizations, and coverage
- Calculate and collect copayments, deductibles, coinsurance, and other patient financial responsibilities
- Obtain, review, and scan required patient documentation
- Ensure accurate demographic, insurance, and financial information is entered into the electronic system
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, patient registration policies, and financial procedures
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, insurance companies, and internal departments
- Meet departmental productivity and quality standards while maintaining exceptional accuracy
- Deliver outstanding customer service in a high-volume healthcare setting
- Perform additional administrative duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of front office, hospital registration/admitting, or medical billing experience
- Previous patient registration experience is required
- Minimum of 2 years of insurance verification and/or medical or hospital billing experience
- Knowledge of Medi-Cal, Medicare, Covered California, COBRA, IPA plans, EMTALA, and other healthcare coverage programs
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations
- Typing speed of at least 45 WPM
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other computer applications
- Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Continuing education in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
- Bilingual language skills
