Job Description

Job Description

Our organization is looking for an Academic Obstetrician-Gynecologist Generalist to become part of our esteemed Department of Gynecology & Obstetrics.

At our institution, we are dedicated to more than just health sciences; we strive to transform lives through healthcare, education, and a commitment to faith. As a faith-oriented academic center, we blend innovative medical practices with a strong service ethos, offering over 100 degree and certificate programs across various health disciplines.

Situated in the only “Blue Zone” in the United States, our institution serves as a center for longevity and wellness. Our mission focuses on serving underserved communities, promoting collaboration, and enhancing healthcare quality.

Why Join Our Department?

  • Opportunities for Academic Excellence and Growth

Our department functions as a faculty-led program within a large teaching hospital, playing a vital role in a comprehensive academic environment. With 36 residents, 3 fellows, and a large medical school, we provide unparalleled opportunities to engage in advanced academic medicine. Our team of 30 faculty members is dedicated to mentoring and training future healthcare leaders, ensuring a legacy of excellence in patient care and education.

  • Recognized for Excellence
  • National Recognition: Our institution is ranked among the Top 50 Hospitals for Gynecology and has been acknowledged as a ‘Top Maternity Hospital’ by U.S. News & World Report.
  • Safety Leadership: We have received a Leapfrog Safety Grade A for 12 consecutive years, showcasing our steadfast commitment to quality and patient safety.
  • Maternal Care Distinction: We are proud to be on the California Maternal Quality Collaborative (CMQCC) Honor Roll for outstanding maternal care.
  • Collaborative Work Environment

Our department thrives on a foundation of teamwork, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to success. Faculty members support each other through challenges and celebrate achievements collectively. This collegial atmosphere has encouraged many to remain with us for decades, fostering strong professional and personal relationships.

Numerous faculty members began their careers here as residents and chose to stay due to our warm and inclusive culture. We value every team member’s input, creating a positive and dynamic work environment where everyone can flourish.

  • Impacting the Community

As the referral center for the Inland Empire, we offer comprehensive care for women facing complex obstetric and gynecologic issues. With over 4000 deliveries annually, our faculty collaborates closely with specialists in the region’s largest NICU, integrating pediatric surgery, cardiology, and other specialties to provide tailored multidisciplinary care for each family.

Through our partnership with a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we deliver essential OBGYN services to underserved individuals and families. This collaboration highlights our commitment to addressing health disparities and providing compassionate care to the most vulnerable members of our community.

  • Work-Life Balance

We understand the significance of flexibility in maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Faculty members have the option to choose reduced work schedules with corresponding salary adjustments or pursue additional productivity to increase their earnings.

Our department also features a manageable call structure with capped 24-hour shifts and post-call recovery days. A planned laborist program will further alleviate call burdens, offering greater flexibility and support for faculty.

Professional Growth and Development

  • Research and Education

We prioritize excellence in teaching and innovation in clinical practice, focusing on enhancing patient lives. Our expertise in surgical and clinical education supports a collaborative environment where faculty work with residents on research projects that contribute to advancements in patient care, particularly in areas such as hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and placenta accreta spectrum management.

Additionally, engaging in scholarly activities with our subspecialty divisions—including Gynecologic Oncology, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Urogynecology, and Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility—creates a diverse academic atmosphere.

  • Empowering Faculty for Success

Alongside regular faculty development lectures, we provide:

  • A $7,000 annual CME stipend.
  • Two weeks of CME leave each year.
  • Mentorship from senior faculty to enhance clinical and surgical skills.

Life in Our Community

  • Wellness and Community

As part of a globally recognized Blue Zone, our community promotes healthy living and longevity. The area offers a family-friendly environment with parks, excellent schools, and a Mediterranean climate ideal for outdoor activities year-round.

  • Cultural and Academic Engagement

Located near vibrant cultural attractions, our community provides access to a variety of activities while maintaining a tranquil suburban setting. Being part of our institution means immersing yourself in a rich academic and professional ecosystem.

Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated starting base salary, which will be adjusted based on experience and faculty rank, ranges from $330,000 to $390,000. Additional variable compensation for exceeding productivity benchmarks is paid semi-annually. Further details regarding compensation will be discussed during the recruitment process.

Our benefits package includes:

  • Generous retirement contributions.
  • Comprehensive medical and dental coverage.
  • Competitive vacation and sick leave.
  • CME days and funding.
  • Relocation assistance (if applicable).
  • Paid malpractice insurance.
