\n

The Vice President of Legal leads the legal function across the EmployInsure family of companies, managing employment practices liability matters, the contract lifecycle, collections, corporate litigation, and the legal department team, while serving as a strategic legal advisor to executive leadership. EmployInsure operates with the pace of a startup inside an established company: business and product strategy shift as new insurance and staffing products are engineered and launched, and this role is expected to reprioritize legal work in step with those shifts.

\n

Corporate Litigation Management: Manage outside counsel on corporate litigation matters.

\n

\n

Team Management: Supervise legal department staff, including workload assignment and prioritization; review and approve work product; train, mentor, and evaluate direct reports; participate in recruiting and onboarding of legal department personnel.

\n

\n

Corporate Legal Strategy: Oversee entity formation, maintenance, governance, and corporate records across all entities; advise executive leadership on legal risk, business initiatives, and major transactions; monitor legal and legislative developments and advise on compliance posture; partner with the Risk Department on insurance coverage and enterprise legal risk assessment; set legal department priorities, processes, and standards.

\n

Juris Doctor from an accredited law school; active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.

  • \n

  • Experience managing outside counsel and supervising legal staff.
  • \n

  • Experience in the Staffing, PEO, or insurance industries required, given the co-employment and joint employer liability specific to this business model.
  • \n

  • Experience with multi-state employment law compliance, or willingness to engage and coordinate with local counsel in jurisdictions outside California.
  • \n

  • Familiarity with Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) processes for workers' compensation claims, particularly in California.
  • \n
