Job Type: Full-Time (Onsite)
Pay Rate: $28.00 – $35.00 per hour (Final pay rate determined after interview)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Interviews: In-person interviews required
Position Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician II to support product development and engineering activities in a laboratory environment. This role provides technical support to engineers by conducting testing, maintaining laboratory equipment, documenting technical data, assisting with prototype development, and supporting engineering projects. The ideal candidate has experience working in a laboratory or regulated environment, enjoys hands-on technical work, and can effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Gather, compile, maintain, and organize technical data, laboratory results, and engineering documentation.
- Prepare engineering reports, summaries, flow charts, block diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Perform quantitative analysis and accurately document test results.
- Provide technical support to engineers on product development and engineering projects.
- Assist with laboratory setup, equipment qualification, calibration, and routine maintenance.
- Support prototype development and test fixture setup.
- Execute testing according to established protocols and written procedures.
- Handle laboratory samples and testing materials safely.
- Communicate testing results and project updates to engineers and project teams.
- Identify and report issues that could impact project timelines or results.
- Follow laboratory safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Assist in training lower-level technicians as needed.
- Perform additional technical duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required.
- Minimum of 4–6 years of laboratory, engineering technician, or regulated manufacturing experience.
- Experience following written procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Experience working collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to understand and perform engineering test procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or another technical discipline.
- One to two years of laboratory or research and development (R&D) experience.
- Experience supporting product development or engineering testing.
- Experience working in cross-functional engineering teams.
- Ability to troubleshoot routine technical problems.
- Experience training or mentoring junior technicians.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a laboratory environment for extended periods.
- Ability to safely handle laboratory samples, chemicals, and testing materials.
- Ability to perform repetitive testing procedures and operate laboratory equipment.
- Ability to lift, move, and transport equipment and materials as needed.
Additional Information
- This is a fully onsite position.
- Candidates must be available to work Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
- In-person interviews are required.
- Candidates who have been submitted for a Mechanical Engineering position within the past three months are not eligible for this opportunity.
