Title: Front Desk / Restaurant Hostess
Reports to: Food & Beverage Managers, Food & Beverage Director
Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
Some prior experience is a resort, club, or hospitality industry setting.

- Excellent customer service skills and an open, courteous and friendly personality required.
- Promptly greet and seats members and guests upon arrival, making them feel welcome.
- Take initial food or beverage orders as needed to ensure ideal speed of service.
- Maintain a neat and organized front-of-house environment.
- Team player who looks for ways to help out other employees whenever needed.
- Willingness to work Fri/Sat/Sun evenings, and some holidays.
Job Summary (Essential Functions)
This position is responsible for greeting members and guests as they approach the dining area. This position requires and neat and polished appearance, and an open, welcoming personality. The host/hostess seats and presents clean menus to members/guests in a friendly, professional and quick manner. Learns the menu items and maintains knowledge of any specials being offered. Ability to multi-task and stay organized and un-stressed in busy times. Able to stand for prolonged periods of time. Must be reliable to show up for scheduled shifts, be on time, follow company policy and procedures. Attire required is business casual and make-up hair, nails are to be conservative.
Job Tasks/Duties:
- Greets and seats members/guests, presents menus, informs them of any special menu items or specialty drinks.
- Treats all members/guests in a manner to ensure their complete satisfaction.
- Confirm or record reservation, paying special attention to any prior requested seating preference.
- Observes tables and keeps track of clean, dirty and occupied tables.
- Takes information and quotes wait times accurately when tables are not immediately available.
- Cleans, organizes and stocks menus at host area.
- Answers phone and answers questions concerning the menu and restaurant.
- Interacts with guests as they arrive and as they leave the restaurant to ensure positive dining experience.
- Fills to-go orders, if applicable.
- Performs other duties as directed.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Stands during entire shift. Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 40 lbs.
Verbally communicates with guests and phone callers.
Must be able to read, write and determine wait time based on NHYC procedures. Must be able to visually scan restaurant for clean, unoccupied tables. This position requires frequent washing of hands. Moderate noise level in a restaurant environment.
