Your Next Step in Hospitality Leadership Might Have Four Legs and a Tail.

If you've helped manage a hotel, resort, senior living community, healthcare operation, or another business that operates around the clock, you already understand a lot about what it takes to succeed in this role.

You know how to lead people across different shifts. You know that the guest experience depends on dozens of things happening correctly behind the scenes. You know how quickly one staffing issue can affect an entire operation. And you understand that when you're part of the management team of a 24-hour business, responsibility doesn't always end when your scheduled shift does.

The Wags Club is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join the management team at our luxury dog daycare and boarding resort.

Working closely with our General Manager, you'll focus on the day-to-day operation of the resortour employees, our dogs, our clients, and the systems that bring everything together.

You don't need professional pet-care experience.

We're particularly interested in managers from hotels, resorts, hospitality, senior living, healthcare, and other 24/7 service environments who already understand operations and people management. We'll teach you our industry and how we care for our dogs.

We're looking for someone who already knows how to help run a complex operation.

The Role

As Operations Manager, you'll work closely with our General Manager to keep the resort running smoothly every day.

The General Manager oversees the location as a whole, including broader business and administrative responsibilities. Your focus will be primarily onexecutingday-to-day operationsthe people, processes, communication, and standards that determine whether a busy operation actually works.

If you've worked in hospitality, think of this as the manager who's deeply involved in what's happening throughout the property: making sure departments communicate, employees know what's expected, staffing is appropriate, standards are maintained, problems are addressed, and the operation keeps moving.

You'll have the authority and responsibility to make day-to-day operational decisions, coach and direct employees, solve problems, and improve processes while working in partnership with the General Manager on larger issues and priorities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations throughout the dog daycare and boarding resort
  • Work closely with the General Manager to implement operational priorities, policies, and company standards
  • Provide daily leadership and direction to employees, Team Leads, and other supervisory staff
  • Coach, train, develop, and hold employees accountable for performance
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement practical solutions that improve productivity, consistency, and service
  • Ensure appropriate staffing, workflow, and communication across all areas of the resort
  • Help build and maintain a strong leadership structure so the operation runs effectively across all shifts
  • Play an integral role in onboarding and training new employees and retraining existing staff as needed
  • Participate in performance reviews, employee coaching, and disciplinary processes
  • Build strong relationships with clients and professionally resolve client concerns
  • Oversee Front Office operations and support sales and revenue goals
  • Oversee dog-care operations, including daycare, boarding, feeding, medication, and grooming
  • Maintain high standards for dog safety, cleanliness, organization, and overall facility operations
  • Manage inventory and ordering
  • Oversee daily cash handling, transactions, and petty cash
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers to help ensure the facility and equipment are properly maintained
  • Ensure emergency procedures are understood and followed
  • Transport dogs to veterinary appointments or emergency care when necessary
  • Step in wherever needed to keep the operation running safely and smoothly

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced operations leader who knows how to manage people, systems, and the unexpected.

The ideal candidate:

  • Has significant management or leadership experience in hospitality, hotels, resorts, senior living, healthcare, pet care, or another 24/7 service-oriented operation
  • Has experience directly supervising employees and providing day-to-day operational leadership
  • Has experience leading teams across multiple shifts, departments, or functional areas
  • Understands how to be a strong second-in-command and work effectively in partnership with a General Manager
  • Is comfortable making day-to-day operational decisions independently while knowing when an issue needs to be escalated
  • Has experience coaching, training, developing, and holding employees accountable
  • Is highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Naturally notices inefficiencies and looks for better ways to operate
  • Has strong problem-solving skills and remains calm and effective when unexpected situations arise
  • Understands that helping manage a 24-hour operation sometimes requires responding to important issues outside normal working hours
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with employees, clients, vendors, and management
  • Is comfortable handling difficult conversations and resolving both employee and client issues
  • Has strong computer skills and is comfortable learning and using business management software
  • Is dependable, responsible, proactive, and follows through
  • Brings a positive attitude and knows how to motivate and develop a team
  • Is friendly, outgoing, and genuinely enjoys being around dogs
  • Has a valid California driver's license
  • Has the flexibility required to help manage a seven-day, 24-hour operation

Understanding the Responsibility

In hospitality, guests eventually check out.

Ours go home toobut until they do, their families are trusting us with their safety and well-being around the clock.

Our business operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Even after our doors close to customers, dogs remain in our care overnight with an overnight team responsible for them.

As Operations Manager, you'll be an important part of the management structure supporting that around-the-clock operation.

Serious operational or emergency situations can occasionally arise outside normal working hours, and members of the management team may need to be available when they do. If you've worked in hotels, resorts, healthcare, senior living, or another 24-hour environment, you probably already understand what that means.

It doesn't mean you're expected to personally handle every issue at every hour. Part of your job is helping build a capable team that can make good decisions and handle routine situations without constantly calling a manager.

But when something serious happens at 2:00 in the morning, it can't always wait until 9:00.

We're looking for someone who understands that distinction.

This Is a Hands-On Management Role

This isn't an office-only operations position.

You'll need to learn our business from the inside, understand how each area of the resort operates, build relationships with the employees doing the work, and be comfortable stepping into the operation when circumstances require it.

Candidates must be physically able to stand for extended periods, crouch, stoop, handle dogs of various sizes, and occasionally assist with cleaning, sanitizing, bathing, or other dog-care responsibilities when needed.

Your primary job, however, is to manage the operation and the people performing the worknot to routinely fill an hourly staff position.

Previous professional dog-care experience is welcome but not required. What matters most is proven leadership experience, strong operational judgment, the ability to develop and manage people, and a genuine commitment to learning how we provide exceptional care for the dogs entrusted to us.

Ready for a Different Kind of Operations Role?

If you've helped lead a hotel, resort, hospitality business, senior living community, healthcare operation, or another complex 24-hour environment and you're ready to bring that experience to an entirely different kind of resort, we'd like to hear from you.

Please submit your resume and a cover letter explaining why you're interested in this position and how your management experience has prepared you to help lead a 24-hour operation.
