POSITION SUMMARY:
Under direction of the Site Director, the Assistant Director is responsible for program development, delivery, administration and evaluation of the ASES After-School program, in accordance with the policies, procedures and standards established by the State of California, Cotati-Rohnert Park School District, and the Sonoma County Family YMCA. The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting with the planning, overall facilitation of the ASES program, and supervision of participants, volunteers and staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- In lieu of the Site Director, the Assistant Site Director will be responsible for all the Site Director’s job responsibilities.
- Administration and program planning; specifically the development and delivery of a well-rounded academic enrichment curriculum.
- Assist with supervision and scheduling of staff, provide open communication with staff and instruct staff in their specific duties. Help in the completion of written staff evaluations prior to the end of the school year.
- Assist in program registration, food bank distribution for snack and all necessary paperwork and record keeping required.
- Provide staff support and development through bi-weekly staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing evaluations.
- Attend training sessions and staff meetings as scheduled. Participation in community activities to represent the YMCA/ASES programs as needed/requested.
- Provide for health and safety of children and staff, know emergency procedures and school procedures.
- Responsible for care and maintenance of equipment and site.
- Maintain regular open communication and active engagement with immediate supervisor, parents and school administration.
- Ensure policies and procedures regarding daily student attendance, early release, etc. are followed by families in the program.
- Treats all participants with dignity and respect. Follow discipline procedures outlined in the Y Code of Conduct.
- Be willing to be flexible, understanding, and sensitive to the needs of people and promote positive relationship between children, parents, and school administration.
- Engage in behavior that is conducive to team building; using open communication, encouragement, support and tolerance with fellow staff members.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education recommended: Associate degree with a focus in education, psychology, child development, or related field; or Professional Experience that is comparable to education.
- Preferred a minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working in a responsible leadership position in the field of education, at-risk youth, or school age childcare.
- Can demonstrate through local assessment knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, and mathematics; as appropriate.
- Current CPR and First Aid certificates at time of employment (or within first 60 days of employment).
- Must complete all mandatory training requirements within the first (30) days of hire, including but not limited to Child Abuse Awareness, New Employee Welcome, and Sexual Harassment.
- Starting Oct 1, 2021, any new hires will be required to show proof of full vaccination prior to employment or if applicable, request a medical or religious exemption.

- The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities are required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
