Community Outreach & Sponsorship Coordinator

Hard Luck Animal Welfare Advocates
locationStockton, CA, USA
PublishedPublished: 6/14/2022
Full Time

Job Description

Job DescriptionDescription:

Hard Luck Animal Welfare Advocates (HLAWA) is a dedicated 501(c)(3) nonprofit

organization partnering directly with the City of Stockton Animal Shelter (SAS). We provide all

onsite veterinary and medical care for shelter animals, while working to improve outcomes for

pets and the people who love them in San Joaquin County. Our team is passionate, collaborative,

and driven by the belief that every animal deserves a chance.

HLAWA is seeking a dynamic, community-focused Community Outreach & Sponsorship

Coordinator to serve as a key representative of our organization within San Joaquin County and

beyond. This role centers on relationship-building, fundraising leadership, community

engagement, and event coordination. The ideal candidate is outgoing, professional, self-

motivated, and eager to grow HLAWA’s visibility and credibility throughout the region.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement & Outreach

• Represent HLAWA throughout San Joaquin County and nationwide by engaging with

local businesses, community leaders, civic groups, residents, etc.

• Build strong, positive relationships that increase awareness of HLAWA’s mission and

programs. This might be in the form of social media posts, videos, educational videos,

and more.

• Identify and pursue opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships, and community support.

**The number of events required each month will vary depending on the time of year and other

events being scheduled by Foster, Rescue, and the Stockton Animal Shelter. The Community

Outreach & Sponsorship coordinator should be trying to reach as many new audiences as

possible each week to increase engagement and awareness of Hard Luck Animal Welfare

Advocates.

**Minimum one weekend (Saturday and/or Sunday) event each month whether it is an adoption

event or strictly just outreach and education with no animals onsite. The Community Outreach &

Sponsorship coordinator should not be executing more than two weekend events per month. This

is to avoid burning out.

Fundraising & Sponsorship Development

• Implement fundraising initiatives to support HLAWA’s vision and mission for the

program.

• Cultivate sponsorship relationships with local businesses, corporations, community

partners, etc.

• Assist, when requested, with donor stewardship, tracking, and communications to

maintain strong, lasting support.

Event Coordination

• Assist in the coordination and planning of community and shelter-related events, such as

adoption events, outreach clinics, and large-scale fundraisers such as the Annual Crab

Feed.

• Work collaboratively with Stockton Animal Shelter leadership and staff to plan and

execute successful joint events.

• Manage event logistics, assist with volunteer involvement day of the event, donation

collection, and promotional efforts.

Public Representation

• Deliver clear, compelling message about HLAWA’s mission, impact, and needs.

• Participate in tabling events, community fairs, presentations, and outreach opportunities.

• Uphold and enhance HLAWA’s credibility, professionalism, and visibility as a trusted

nonprofit partner in the county to the best of your ability.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently engage the

community.

• Experience in community outreach, fundraising, sponsorship development, or related

fields preferred.

• Ability to lead initiatives, work independently, and manage multiple priorities.

• Comfortable working in the field and representing the organization at events and public

forums.

• Passion for animal welfare and supporting the mission of HLAWA.
