Construction Hoist Operator

Pay Rate:
The pay rate for this job is $22 - $28 / hour*
What you'll be doing as a Construction Hoist Operator:
- Operating a temporary construction elevator (hoist) to transport workers, tools, equipment, and building materials between floors.
- Inspecting the hoist before each shift to ensure it is operating safely.
- Maintaining communication with workers on different floors via radio or hand signals.
- Monitoring load limits and ensuring materials are properly secured before transport.
- Following all OSHA and site-specific safety procedures.
- Keeping the hoist area clean and organized.
- Reporting any mechanical issues or safety concerns immediately.
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions and coordinating with multiple trades throughout the day

Job requirements:
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for employment with PeopleReady
- High school diploma or GED (preferred by many employers)
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and stand for long periods
- Reliable transportation and strong attendance
- 1–3 years of construction experience preferred
- Experience operating heavy equipment, forklifts, cranes, aerial lifts, or other construction machinery is a plus
- Experience on commercial or high-rise construction sites is highly desirable
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Construction Safety
- Construction hoist/elevator operator certification (if required by the project or local jurisdiction)
- First Aid/CPR (preferred)
- Valid driver's license
- Strong understanding of construction site safety
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Good communication with crews using radios or hand signals
- Ability to monitor load capacities and transport personnel safely
- Attention to detail and ability to stay focused during repetitive tasks
- Basic mechanical knowledge to identify and report equipment issues
- Comfortable working at heights
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders as needed
- Able to work extended hours, overtime, and weekends when required
- Comfortable working in hot, cold, windy, and rainy conditions
- 1+ year of construction experience
- Ability to work at heights and in all weather conditions
- Excellent safety record and communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
- Experience operating construction equipment or temporary personnel/material hoists preferred
- Background check and Drug test required
