Position Type: Full-Time, Temp-to-Hire

Compensation: $25.00 - $28.00 / hour (Depending on experience)

Company Overview

Our client is a premier manufacturing specialist based in Ontario, CA, dedicated to the rough and finish machining of super alloys. Serving the aerospace, commercial, defense, power, and petroleum industries, they produce complex components utilizing nickel base, titanium, stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steels, with part sizes ranging from 2" OD to 120" OD.

Shift & Schedule Details

This position supports multiple shifts based on business needs. New hires typically undergo training on the 1st shift for approximately 3 months (or until independent competency is demonstrated).

  • 1st Shift: 4:15 AM – 12:45 PM (Monday – Friday)

  • 2nd Shift: 12:15 PM – 8:45 PM (Monday – Friday)

  • 3rd Shift: 8:15 PM – 4:45 AM (Sunday – Thursday)

  • Note: Split shifts may also be available depending on production demands.

  • Shift Premiums: Shift premiums will apply upon schedule change once you are hired on permanently with our client.

Position Summary

The Level 2 Machinist is responsible for operating multiple 2-to-5 axis CNC lathe machines simultaneously. This role requires comprehensive machine setup, quality inspections, and basic preventative maintenance to ensure precision and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Machine Setup & Operation: Prepare and set up fixtures, select cutting tools, and load/adjust CNC programs and offsets for 2-5 axis CNC lathes.

  • Quality & Inspection: Perform part inspections using advanced quality measurement tools and techniques.

  • Blueprints & Codes: Interpret intermediate-level blueprints and apply a basic understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). Utilize common CNC G and M codes.

  • Maintenance: Perform routine preventative maintenance, including monitoring coolant/lube levels and maintaining workspace cleanliness.

Experience & Education Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience: 2 to 4 years of professional machinist experience required.

  • Preferred Industry Background: Experience in aerospace manufacturing, automotive manufacturing, or heavy mechanics is highly preferred.
