Job Description

Job DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting and financial reporting activities for a real estate portfolio in California. This role plays a key part in period-end close, property-level forecasting, and budget planning while partnering with internal teams to deliver accurate and timely financial information. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical judgment, solid general ledger expertise, and the ability to improve processes in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
• Drive monthly closing activities by preparing journal entries, completing account reconciliations, and helping ensure the general ledger is accurate and timely.
• Evaluate monthly and quarterly financial results, identify key variances, and develop clear explanations for changes across income statement and balance sheet accounts.
• Support recurring forecast cycles for assigned properties by working closely with property management teams and producing financial analysis and reporting.
• Contribute to annual budgeting efforts for designated assets by compiling data, reviewing assumptions, and assisting with planning deliverables.
• Assist in the preparation of consolidated reporting materials and help assemble financial packages for external reporting requirements.
• Produce semi-annual and year-end financial statement support, ensuring documentation is complete, organized, and aligned with reporting deadlines.
• Perform special analyses and ad hoc financial reviews to support leadership decisions and operational needs.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to meet reporting expectations and respond to information requests.
• Review invoice coding for proper expense allocation and correct accounting treatment across relevant accounts and properties.
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and strengthen procedures to improve team efficiency and reporting accuracy.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• At least 7 years of accounting experience, including significant exposure to month-end close and financial reporting.
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entry preparation, and account reconciliation processes.
• Experience analyzing financial statements and explaining fluctuations in profit and loss and balance sheet accounts.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis, reporting, and data review.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external contacts.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to manage priorities independently.
• Experience with Yardi Voyager is an advantage, especially within a real estate or property environment.
