Summary
The Quoting Specialist is responsible for reviewing customer RFQs for PCBAs and coordinating the collection of pricing from electronic component distributors and direct manufacturers, as well as board house pricing for PCBs. This role collaborates with the engineering team to incorporate labor estimates into final RFQ submissions. The Quoting Specialist serves as a critical bridge between Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, and suppliers, ensuring accurate and timely quotes for high profile aerospace customer accounts.
Primary Responsibilities
o RFQ Review & Quote Development
o Review customer RFQs for PCBAs to understand scope, requirements, and delivery expectations
o Compile and validate all BOMs and requirements, including revisions, quantities, and special instructions
o Coordinate with Engineering to incorporate labor, assembly, test, and any specialized process costs into the final quote
· Pricing & Sourcing
o Obtain electronic component pricing from distributors and direct manufacturers, ensuring competitive and compliant quotes
o Source PCB fabrication pricing from multiple board houses and capture turnaround times, NRE, and panelization options as applicable
o Validate pricing against customer requirements, including ITAR/EAR considerations and any aerospace-specific restrictions
· Quote Assembly & Submission
o Consolidate material, labor, tooling, and PCB fabrication costs into a comprehensive quote package
o Ensure quotes align with ESC’s terms, lead times, and delivery commitments.
o Submit quotes to customers within agreed timelines and support any follow-up inquiries
o Manage multiple RFQs simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
o Demonstrate initiative, ownership, and reliability in delivering accurate quotes on time
· Cross-Functional Collaboration
o Partner with Sales, Engineering, Program Managers, Quality, and Purchasing to align quote content with program milestones and customer expectations
o Communicate quote status, assumptions, and risk factors clearly to internal stakeholders and customers.
o Maintain documentation and traceability of all quote-related communications and pricing sources
· Supplier & Data Management
o Maintain up-to-date supplier pricing catalogs and escalation paths for cost changes.
o Track quote history and win/loss data to support continuous improvement and pricing strategy
· Customer & Compliance Focus
o Work with customers to clarify requirements and address questions to improve quote accuracy.
o Ensure compliance with ESC policies and applicable aerospace standards during quoting activities and confidentiality
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience as a buyer, purchasing agent, or procurement specialist within a manufacturing environment; contract manufacturing preferred
· Experience in the manufacturing industry; contract manufacturing preferred
· Strong understanding of electronic components, PCB fabrication processes, and assembly methods
· Strong, hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems or quoting systems; experience with Epicor is highly preferred
· Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data analysis)
· Basic understanding of ITAR/EAR considerations and aerospace supplier requirements is a plus.
· Demonstrated negotiation, sourcing, and supplier management skills
· Able to work and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and external customers
· Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-mix, high-change environment
· Must be a US citizen or legal permanent US resident
Preferred Skills / Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Operations, Business, or related field
· EMS/PCBA procurement experience strongly preferred
· APICS (CPIM/CSCP) or ISM (CPSM) certification
· Working knowledge of electronic component types, datasheets, and franchised distribution channels
· Experience managing component shortages, allocations, end-of-life (EOL), and counterfeit-mitigation processes
· Familiarity with aerospace/defense supply chain requirements (e.g., ITAR/EAR)
· Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
