Job Overview
50 Stars Staffing is seeking a compassionate and dependable 1:1 Paraprofessional to provide individualized support for a student entering 2nd grade in San Diego, CA. The ideal candidate will work closely with the student throughout the school day, providing academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support.
The student has a diagnosis of ADHD and Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD) and may exhibit occasional aggressive behaviors. The successful candidate should be calm, patient, and experienced in implementing positive behavior support strategies.
Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated one-on-one support throughout the school day.
- Assist the student with classroom participation and academic tasks.
- Implement behavior support strategies and follow established behavior plans.
- Help de-escalate challenging behaviors using positive intervention techniques.
- Promote social-emotional regulation and appropriate peer interactions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of behavioral and academic progress as required.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, behavior specialists, and parents.
- Support a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Previous experience working with children with ADHD, behavioral challenges, or developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Experience as a Paraprofessional, Behavioral Aide, RBT, or Special Education Assistant is highly desirable.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or similar de-escalation training is a plus.
- Strong communication, patience, and teamwork skills.
