Make a meaningful impact supporting students with visual impairments in an engaging school setting! This rewarding contract opportunity runs from August 13 through June 11 and is located near Fremont, CA. Your expertise as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired will be key in ensuring students receive high-quality instruction and access to the curriculum.
As an onsite-only role, this position offers 37.5 hours per week working directly in the school environment—meaning you’ll interact in person with students and collaborate closely with staff. Create accessible learning experiences and foster independence for visually impaired learners.
Requirements:
- Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential authorizing Visual Impairments
OR California teaching credential with authorization to teach visually handicapped students (EL CLAD) - Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or in a related field preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to working onsite; this position is not open to virtual or hybrid arrangements
What you’ll do:
- Deliver specialized instructional services to students with visual impairments
- Adapt curriculum and instructional materials, ensuring accessibility
- Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
- Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff
- Participate in IEP meetings and provide ongoing documentation
- Serve as an advocate for students’ educational and accessibility needs
