Job Description

Job Title: CNC Machinist / CNC Mill Operator ($35/hour)

Job Description

This role focuses on CNC milling operations in an aerospace machine shop, working primarily with aerospace-grade titanium and aluminum components. You will set up and operate Makino CNC machines up to the 3rd axis, using Fanuc controls and G-code programming to produce high-precision parts. The position is ideal for candidates with strong CNC mill operating experience and prior exposure to aerospace or automotive manufacturing environments, especially involving large-scale titanium and aluminum part machining.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC milling machines, with a primary focus on Makino mills up to the 3rd axis.
  • Perform CNC mill operations on aerospace-grade titanium and aluminum components, ensuring high precision and quality.
  • Use Fanuc controls to run programs, adjust parameters, and troubleshoot machining issues as needed.
  • Interpret and apply G-code programming to execute machining operations and make minor program edits when required.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements.
  • Assist with CNC machine setup, including basic setup tasks such as tooling selection, fixture installation, and part alignment.
  • Operate CNC mills and, when needed, support operations involving lathes, provided they are within an aerospace machining context.
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to inspect parts and verify dimensional accuracy.
  • Monitor machining processes to maintain tight tolerances and ensure parts meet aerospace quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, following shop safety procedures and best practices for machine operation.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve machining challenges and improve production efficiency.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Haas mills and their controls.
  • Strong understanding of CNC machine setup practices for mills.
  • Broader machining and milling experience in a high-precision manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work from detailed work instructions and quality standards typical of aerospace manufacturing.
  • Comfort working with various CNC machine tools and related equipment in a production shop.

Why Work Here?

You will join a stable aerospace manufacturer with long-term contracts secured through 2027, offering strong job security and the opportunity to work on technically challenging, high-precision components. The environment values skilled tradespeople, provides exposure to advanced CNC technologies, and supports continuous development of your machining expertise.

Work Environment

The role is based in an aerospace machine shop environment focused on high-precision machining of titanium and aluminum components. You will work with CNC mills, including Makino and Haas machines, using Fanuc controls and G-code in a production setting.
