Job Description

The Mechanical Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring products meet established quality standards through the inspection, measurement, testing, and documentation of incoming materials, work-in-process components, and finished goods. This role utilizes precision measuring equipment and inspection methodologies to verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and company quality standards while supporting continuous improvement and manufacturing excellence.

Work Schedule

  • Weekend Shift (Fri-Sat-Sun : 5:00AM - 5:00PM)
  • Swing Shift (Mon-Fri : 2:30PM - 11:00PM)



Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections to verify product conformance.
  • Measure and test products using a variety of precision inspection equipment and metrology systems.
  • Conduct visual inspections in accordance with company and customer specifications.
  • Perform inspections on surface plates and utilize appropriate inspection techniques to validate dimensional requirements.
  • Maintain product identification and traceability throughout the inspection process.
  • Accurately document inspection results, nonconformances, and quality records within ERP and quality management systems.
  • Accept, reject, or place product on hold based on inspection findings and established quality criteria.
  • Generate and process Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) when required.
  • Analyze inspection data and support quality trend monitoring and Key Process Indicator (KPI) reporting.
  • Communicate inspection findings and quality concerns with manufacturing, engineering, and quality personnel.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and other quality-related projects as assigned.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.



Required Skills

  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) certification preferred.
  • Strong understanding and application of ASME Y14.5 standards and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and dimensional requirements.
  • Knowledge of datum structures, geometric relationships, trigonometry, and dimensional analysis.
  • Experience operating Keyence Video Measurement Systems and related metrology equipment.
  • Ability to perform inspections using Optical Comparators and Quadra-Chek measurement systems.
  • Experience performing mechanical inspections using manual Mitutoyo CMMs and running Zeiss CMM programs.
  • Ability to validate product characteristics using multiple inspection methods.
  • Experience troubleshooting and optimizing CMM programs.
  • Ability to collect, input, analyze, and trend inspection data and quality metrics.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to discuss inspection methods and results with operators, engineers, and management.



Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Strong foundation in mathematics, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Up to 2 years of quality inspection or mechanical inspection experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools and inspection equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel for data entry, reporting, and spreadsheet management
  • Experience with ERP systems and quality documentation processes preferred.
