Job Description

Make a difference in the lives of students by providing impactful, adaptive physical education in a supportive school environment. As an Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher, you’ll work closely with students who have a range of disabilities, designing and implementing individualized programs that foster physical growth, confidence, and achievement. This contract position offers the opportunity to collaborate with educators, families, and support teams to help every student reach their unique potential.

Qualifications:

  • Valid California teaching credential with Adaptive Physical Education authorization (or eligibility)
  • Experience working with students who have special needs is preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to create and deliver tailored physical education lesson plans
  • Commitment to inclusive, student-centered practices
  • Collaborative mindset for working with multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities:

  • Assess individual abilities and develop customized physical education programs for students with disabilities
  • Deliver adaptive PE lessons that support each student’s physical and educational goals
  • Work cooperatively with classroom teachers, therapists, families, and support staff
  • Monitor, document, and report on student progress, making adjustments as needed
  • Advocate for students’ needs and promote equity and access to physical education
  • Stay current with best practices in adaptive physical education and incorporate evidence-based strategies
