Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting elementary students as a contract Occupational Therapist in a school setting near Escondido, CA. Work with a dedicated team of professionals as you provide specialized care to a diverse caseload, including medically fragile children needing compassionate and skilled OT services. This full-time position is slated for 37.5 hours per week, running from August 18th through the end of December, with a strong likelihood of extension.
Qualifications & Experience Sought:
- Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist
- Demonstrated experience in school-based OT settings
- Comfort and skill in supporting medically fragile students
- Familiarity with IEP processes and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Effective communication skills with students, staff, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative OT services to elementary-age students as designated in IEPs
- Customize interventions to foster student participation and independence across educational environments
- Assess students’ functional needs and document progress in accordance with school and federal guidelines
- Work closely with educators, administrators, and families to develop and implement support strategies
- Adapt therapy approaches for students with complex medical needs, ensuring safety and accessibility
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute OT expertise to team decision-making
