Empower students with visual impairments to reach their highest potential in a rewarding contract position as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. In this impactful educational role, your skills will support learners’ independence and academic progress within a collaborative school setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
  • Previous experience working in school environments, ideally with students who are visually impaired or blind
  • Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, adaptive equipment, and individualized instructional strategies
  • Excellent communication skills for working with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Flexibility, resourcefulness, and a compassionate approach to supporting diverse learners

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction individually and in small groups, adapting lessons to meet IEP goals for visually impaired students
  • Assess student progress, conduct functional vision assessments, and develop data-driven instructional plans
  • Consult regularly with general education teachers and staff to integrate accommodations and modifications into classroom learning
  • Train students in the use of accessible tools and technology to foster independence within and beyond the classroom
  • Communicate proactively with families, providing updates on progress and strategies for support at home
  • Maintain thorough documentation of student services, progress, and compliance with all relevant educational regulations
