Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and a commitment to excellence in the kitchen. As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Executive Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food preparation, and maintaining food safety standards. This position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

  • Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and staff management.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and training to ensure adherence to recipes and presentation standards.
  • Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies and monitoring stock levels to minimize waste.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen area.
  • Prepare high-quality dishes according to menu specifications while maintaining consistency in taste and presentation.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items and seasonal offerings.
  • Assist in catering events as needed, ensuring timely delivery of food services.
  • Handle shift management responsibilities, including scheduling staff and coordinating kitchen activities during service hours.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary skills.
  • Experience in inventory management and control within a restaurant or catering environment.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices for maintaining hygiene standards.
  • Excellent supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse team.
  • Proficient in shift management, ensuring smooth operations during peak hours.
  • Background in food service management is preferred, with an understanding of dietary department requirements being an asset.
