Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Make a meaningful impact by supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired throughout the full school year. This in-person, contract role is conveniently located near beautiful Seaside, CA, and provides the opportunity to empower learners by helping them access curriculum and activities in an inclusive educational setting.

Qualifications & Desired Background:

  • Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field
  • Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired, in PreK–12 settings
  • Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive equipment
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
  • Flexibility and creativity in adapting materials and lessons

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments, adapting lessons and materials for accessibility
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, staff, and families to facilitate inclusive education
  • Assess students’ functional vision and learning environments to determine educational needs
  • Train students in use of Braille, large print, and assistive technology devices
  • Support independence in orientation and mobility in the classroom and school environment
  • Attend and contribute to IEP meetings, providing expertise and advocacy for students’ needs
  • Maintain thorough documentation and track student progress throughout the school year
