Ideal candidates will have:
- Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Visual Impairment or equivalent credential
- Prior experience as a Visually Impaired Teacher or in a related instructional setting
- Strong ability to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies for visually impaired students
- Experience with assistive technology and Braille instruction
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- A passion for fostering inclusive, accessible learning environments
In this role, you will:
- Develop and deliver individualized lesson plans to students with visual impairments, ensuring access to grade-level curriculum
- Collaborate with other educators, aides, and related service providers to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide direct instruction in Braille reading and writing, orientation and mobility, and use of adaptive tools and technologies
- Advocate for student needs and serve as a resource for faculty and families regarding visual impairment education best practices
- Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed for optimal outcomes
