Massage Therapist (CMT)

Position Overview

The Allay team is growing! We are seeking a Massage Therapist (CMT) who is passionate about supporting clients through therapeutic bodywork, perinatal care, and holistic wellness. We are building a collaborative team focused on compassionate, evidence-based care.

The Massage Therapist will provide therapeutic massage and bodywork through in-home visits throughout the Bay Area and office sessions in San Francisco. This role combines hands-on therapeutic care, client education, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary perinatal and wellness care team.

This position is part-time with the opportunity to grow into a full-time role as demand increases. Ability to provide office sessions and travel for in-home visits across the San Francisco Bay Area.

What We Offer

● $40-$100 per session depending on massage duration

Roles and Responsibilities

● Provide individualized therapeutic massage sessions for prenatal, postpartum, and general wellness clients

● Develop a personalized treatment plan for each client

● Conduct in-home massage or office visits for prenatal, postpartum, or mobility-limited clients

● Perform intake assessments and adapt modalities to client needs, contraindications, and comfort

● Address musculoskeletal concerns including tension, pain, postural imbalances, and stress-related conditions

● Support clients experiencing conditions such as prenatal discomfort, postpartum recovery, chronic pain, or stress and anxiety

● Educate clients on self-care, stretching, and home practices to support treatment outcomes

● Document visits and communicate with the care team when appropriate

● Collaborate with perinatal and wellness professionals including lactation consultants, doulas, and other providers

Qualifications

● Must hold an active California Certified Massage Therapist (CMT) or Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) certification.

● Ability to work at weekends is a plus.

● Be able to carry and transport massage equipment (table, supplies) of at least 30-40 lbs to client’s homes.

● Proficiency in multiple massage modalities such as Swedish, deep tissue, prenatal, myofascial release, or lymphatic drainage

● Knowledge and experience using massage tools such as hot stones, cupping, bolsters, and specialized prenatal positioning equipment

● Primary work location based in San Francisco, CA

● Willing to travel up to 40 miles throughout the San Francisco Bay Area for in-home massage sessions

● Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation

● Strong communication, clinical assessment, client education, and interpersonal skills

● Ability to build supportive relationships with families from diverse backgrounds

● Comfortable working both independently and collaborating within a multidisciplinary care team

● Strong critical thinking, problem solving and clinical decision-making abilities

● Detailed-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate documentation and records

● Experience providing massage therapy in a professional outpatient, spa, clinical, or private practice setting for prenatal and postpartum individuals

● Knowledge of contraindications and precautions for massage therapy during pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and with special populations

● Fluent in English

Scheduling

● At least three or more days per week, one day must be a weekend

● Up to 8-hour shifts per day, hours may vary depending on massage bookings.

● Up to 3 home visits per day and/or 5 office visits per day
