The Molding Technician role supports a manufacturing facility that specializes in advanced composite materials by assisting with machine operation, part inspection, and material handling in a fast-paced production environment. This entry-level, hands-on position is ideal for individuals with strong mechanical aptitude who enjoy working as part of a team and are eager to learn, with full training provided and the potential for long-term hire. Working under close supervision, the Molding Technician follows detailed written and verbal instructions, adheres to strict safety and quality standards, and contributes to efficient, reliable production output.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior technicians with machine setup and operation to support daily production goals.
  • Load and unload raw materials and finished products from molding and composite equipment.
  • Follow detailed written and verbal instructions to complete assigned tasks accurately and on time.
  • Monitor machines during operation and promptly escalate issues to senior technicians or supervisors.
  • Use hand tools and shop equipment safely and correctly as needed for production tasks.
  • Adjust and regulate machine settings such as pressure, temperature, and cure times under guidance.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with housekeeping standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall production and team needs.
  • Learn and follow established quality inspection standards for molded composite parts.
  • Measure and visually inspect parts for defects using precision tools and gauges.
  • Identify potential quality issues and report them to senior technicians for review and direction.
  • Follow all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety procedures at all times.
  • Properly handle and dispose of hazardous waste in designated areas according to safety guidelines.
  • Support and promote a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of experience in manufacturing, composites, or production preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with machines and tools.
  • Basic computer skills to follow instructions and record information.
  • Ability to perform simple math and unit conversions; a math test will be administered during the interview process.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English accurately.
  • Reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and stand for extended periods during the shift.
  • Team-oriented communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience as a Molding Technician, Composite Technician, Production Technician, Machine Operator, Manufacturing Associate, or Manufacturing Assembler is beneficial.
  • Background in composite manufacturing, assembly production, or general assembly work is a plus.
  • Mechanical and troubleshooting skills that support basic problem-solving on equipment.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with changing priorities.
  • Interest in developing skills in advanced composite materials and molding processes.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility focused on advanced composite materials, where you will work around molding equipment, hand tools, and shop machinery in a production-floor setting. The environment is fast-paced and team-oriented, with a strong emphasis on safety, cleanliness, and adherence to PPE requirements. Positions are available on a day shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and on a swing shift from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday through Friday. You will spend most of your shift on your feet, performing physical tasks such as lifting up to 55 lbs, operating machines, and handling materials, while following established safety and quality procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fairfield, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.15/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
