BACKGROUND
The Agricultural Institute of Marin is an educational 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in San Rafael, California. AIMs mission is to educate, inspire, and connect communities, responsiblefarmersand producers as part of a healthy, Earth-friendly,equitablelocal and regional food system. We envision a responsible food and farming system that is environmentally beneficial, economicallyviable, and socially just. AIM serves 400+ farmers, food purveyors, and artisans from 40 California counties whoparticipatein AIMs Certified Farmers Markets in the cities of Hayward, Newark, Oakland, Point Reyes, San Rafael, and San Francisco. AIM also provides hands-on and virtual education programs to thousands of children and adults, operates a farm audit program, runs a mobile market for older adults and underserved communities, and operates CalFresh/EBT and Market Match services to create a healthier, equitable food system across the San Francisco Bay Area.
JOB SUMMARY
The Agricultural Institute of Marin is seeking a dedicated, full-timeAssociate Farmers Market Manager/OperationsCoordinator forour year-round farmers marketson Thursdays and Sundays at the Marin Civic Center in San Rafael.The Associate Farmers Market Manager / Operations Coordinator supports the successful operation of our Thursday and Sunday farmers markets and ensures smooth organizationallogisticsduring office days. This role workstwo days per week on-site at the markets,assistingwith vendor coordination, customer service, and market setup/breakdown. On in-officedays,(Tuesday,Wednesdayand every otherMonday),the coordinator manages operational tasks such as scheduling and trackingvehicle maintenance, organizing and managing equipment, and supporting overall market operations. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of improving operational efficiency and supporting daily operations through effective planning, strong problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. They are proactive, highly organized, and adaptable, with the ability to work successfully in both field-based outdoor environments and administrative office settings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist Market Manager indriving a company van and trailer tothe market site,securing the market site,setting up and breaking down the market,market operationsincluding AIM market equipment, ATM(s),market signs, information booth, restrooms, entertainment, caf area(s) and garbage disposal.
- Staffthe information booth, providing excellent customer service andassistingwith all transactions.
- Operate AIM's EBT program by swiping EBT cards and distributing tokens topurchasehealthy foods.
- Collect and process vendor payments for their market space.
- Overseedriver safety training fornew employees.
- Maintain excellent relations with vendors, customers,staffand local governmental/community organizations and businesses.
- Maintainmarketcleanliness throughout theday.
- Resolve customer and vendor issues with guidance from the Market Manager as needed.(ex. market complaints, vendor spacing issues, or conflict between a customer and vendor.)
- Cantrain new assistants on day of market operations and EBT/Market Match operations.
- Fill in for Market Manager duties as needed with training provided.
- Support AIMs Agricultural and Environmental Integrity program by conducting stall audits atmarketin cooperation with the Market Manager.
- Takeinitiative byimplementing market operations needs and be a welcoming representative of the market to the public.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must havevalidCA driver's license andcleandriving record.
- Physical capacityto repeatedlylift upto 50lbs, load/unload equipment to/fromatruck.
- Excellent communication, problemsolvingand organizational skills,with attention to detail.
- Ability tomaintaincalm, handle details and multi-task in a busy environment.
- Self-starter withoutgoing, sunny personality with a sense of humor.
- Energetic, activeindividualwho is also a team player who takes direction well.
- Excellent punctuality and attendance.
- General understanding and/or sincere interest in food and farming.
- Ability to work early mornings and long hours everySunday.
HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bilingual in Spanish or Chinese.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/DEMANDS
This position requires regularly lifting 50+lbs, when setupand breakdownofthe market, primarilywhen:
- Unloading and loading market equipment from/to the truck (tables, chairs, canopy, canopy weights,PortableATMmachine, cones, barricades, A-frames,market signs) forthecustomer service information booth/caf areas, as well as removing and placing bollards in designatedareas.
