Do you enjoy turning a print into a tightly held, inspection-ready part on a manual lathe or mill? Do you instinctively reach for the right tool, set the right speed, and verify with precision instruments until every feature is spot on? If so, you’ll fit right in.

Role mission

Transform engineering drawings into precision components using manual turning and milling. Own the process from setup through final inspection while upholding safety, quality, and reliability.

Core duties

  • Set up and operate manual lathes and manual mills to meet drawing and spec requirements
  • Read and apply blueprints, dimensions, tolerances, and GD&T callouts
  • Inspect during and after operations using micrometers, calipers, bore/depth gauges, dial indicators, and more
  • Select, stage, and maintain cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding for each job
  • Adjust tooling and machine parameters to maintain dimensional control and surface finish
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance and assist in troubleshooting equipment issues
  • Use hand and power tools safely for setups and minor repair tasks
  • Keep the work cell organized; follow all company safety procedures
  • Contribute process ideas that improve quality, throughput, or material flow

What sets you up for success

  • 5+ years operating manual lathes and mills in a manufacturing or job-shop environment
  • Proven hands-on competence with manual turning and milling machines
  • Strength in interpreting engineering drawings and machining specs
  • Skilled with precision inspection tools: calipers, micrometers, gauges, dial indicators
  • Working command of tooling selection, feeds/speeds, and close-tolerance practices
  • Comfort with shop math for measuring and calculating dimensions and offsets
  • Safe operation of machine tools, hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and shop gear
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and effective in a fast-moving, team-centric setting
