You will serve as the technical lead on job sites, mentor junior technicians, and ensure high-quality delivery. Job Summary:
The Lead Security Systems Technician performs or assists with installation, programming, and checkout of systems and service installed jobs. Types of systems include security, access control, CCTV, audio, and mass notification systems. May assist in emergency troubleshooting of systems. Installs or supervises the installation of conduit, wire, cable, equipment, components, and devices associated with special systems when necessary and acts as a leader for field installation staff on project sites. Guides, assists, and supports field-related to installation drawings and field changes. Performs check-out, systems start-up, programming, and testing of installed systems. Performs tasks related to panel fabrication. Coordinates with or advises the manager about the requirements for material and supplies to ensure timely delivery to the job site. Provides inputs and assists with the preparation of as-built drawings and project close-out.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform job installation per engineered drawings.
- Provide leadership on small projects.
- Act as the Company liaison for interface with customer representative(s).
- Perform with complete working knowledge of security, access control and CCTV systems.
- Perform system testing and troubleshooting.
- Understand all phases of construction, maintain project documentation and create red-lined field drawings according to Company policies and procedures.
- Program for non-engineered systems.
- Adhere to and participate in all Company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.
9. Other responsibilities as assigned.
Tools:
Basic Hand Tools: screwdriver – all sizes (regular and Phillips,), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (adjustable, needle nose, lineman), hammer, cable stripper, insulated crimping tool, flashlight and gloves. Multimeter, butt-set, toner/wand, coax compression and/or hex crimp tool.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
· Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, and present a professional image.
· Must possess critical thinking skills as well the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s).
· Must be able to act as the Company liaison for interface with customer representative(s).
· Must have proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other service documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
· Must be able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
· Must be able to work at heights, off of a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:
· Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency, Associates degree preferred.
· Work history must contain minimum of five (5) years verifiable experience in fire alarm industry.
· Must be highly competent with a computer, knowledge of RS232, RS485, Ethernet, TCP/IP protocols, and be able comprehend software programs for the required systems.
· Nicet Certification or CSA beneficial.
· Must be able to pass a background check for an Alarm Agent License or have a current Alarm Agent License.
· Must possess system certifications from various manufacturers. The company supports EST 2 & 3 Fire, Bosch, UTC/GE , Software House and others.
· Must have a clean driving record and meet company minimum driving standards.
